Update 3-4 February

  My people, Greetings:

Saturday. We started out in 29-degree weather, wind chill down to 15!  But the sun was shining so our “leader” saw no problem.  We did our usual walk backward.  No! We didn’t walk backward, although we could if we wanted to.  We just reversed the circuit and what a difference in scenery.  The major problem (besides blisters) is not being bored into unconsciousness.  So, differing the route is important.

I didn’t get to finish the walk last Sunday, but Eva, Sandra and Bill did.  They followed a route that Sandra has “estimated” at 6 miles or so.  Turned out to be 10, but by the time they realized the problem it was as far one direction as the other.  So they went way over expectations.  Goes to show what happens when I’m not there.  You can damn well bet that I would have recognized “too much”, at least in exercise!

So Nazi Flohr, our valued leader, is going to be at some conference Thursday-Saturday of next week and I assumed that we would get the week off from training.  So wrong!  She is making us train on our own. It seems to me to be grossly unfair.  When the leader is away, the mice should get to play!

Tomorrow promises to be more fun…the temperature will be in the teens!
Back to you then, IF I survive!

Sunday.  Cold with strong winds, but walk we did.
Nazi let us go a bit shorter distance due to the weather.  If they ever have a marathon walk in Alaska, we’re ready.  I found my black and red checked New Hampshire farm cap. I looked crazy, but I was warm!

I’m always looking for a fun place to amuse myself.

My “spies” tell me that the new Staunton Grocery restaurant on the west end of Beverly street in downtown Staunton has wonderful food, a great wine list and good service. I haven’t been there myself, but I have it on my list of places to try if I’m ever allowed a weekend off.

On the home front: Casey II has taken the chair in my study so I’m drinking my morning coffee and reading the Post, standing up.  No problem there, however doing the crossword takes a bit of agility on my part.  Oh, yes, I’m certainly in charge of my life!

So you can see that my life is exciting!  Until next weekend and keep warm: that will be a challenge!

Anne
IF I DON'T, WHO WILL?
