Training update Saturday

Today we walked 12 miles of absolute boredom in Augusta County.  We managed to find a very boring route.  The highlight was five Mennonite ladies who passed us on bikes. Otherwise, some beautiful horses, dandelions, and a cow painted on a barn.  Enjoy!

Tomorrow is our last official training day and next weekend the real event happens. I think we’re all beginning to get excited.  Finally, a payoff for all the work!

I’m also very proud to announce that we reached a team goal of $10,000!  That’s $2,800 more than we pledged. Thank all of you so very much for helping us reach this goal.

If you want to watch us finish the walk next week and join us in the closing ceremonies, everything takes place at the Kennedy Center in D.C.  Our group “should” finish the second day (Sunday 6th around 1-1:30. Then everyone who has finished welcomes the remaining walkers.

The closing ceremony starts at 3:30 and if you haven’t experience an Avon ceremony, you really should come.  It is emotional, humorous and filled with good will.  We'll be the ones wearing the "Team Flohr" shirts and lying on the ground!

 Until tomorrow, with love, Anne

Sunday 29th April

Final training day!  We walked 7 miles, just an easy stroll in the beautiful valley. Aaaaawl right!  We’re ready!  Go team!!!  We’re excited!  Friday noon we leave for D.C.  Opening ceremony 6:30 Saturday morning and then we’re off.  Looks like the weather is going to be perfect!

Hopefully you remember what I wrote to you a few months ago:

I am walking for my friend Karla who had a courageous fight with breast cancer last year and has, hopefully, won.

"I am walking in the memory of the women who died fighting. I am walking in honor of the women who are still fighting.
I am walking in the hope that someday there will be a cure.”

I will have Karla’s name on my shirt as I walk and the names of others in my pocket. I will also have my sister Bette's name on my shirt, -know that I love you deeply.

If you would like me to add the name of an individual who is a survivor of breast cancer to my list, or if you have someone you would like me to walk in memory of, please send me the names.

Again, thanks SO MUCH for your support in every way.  I’ll be thinking of you as I walk.  I’ll tell you all about it when I return. You are wonderful people. I love you.

Training is Over!
